About Ewan Divitt
Ewan Divitt is a trumpet player, composer, arranger, brass instrument repair technician, and entrepreneur. Ewan has performed with Michael and Randy Brecker, Bill Holman, and Dave Holland. He has studied trumpet with Scott Harrison, Brian O'Kane, and Steve Crowe. He has also studied arranging with Andy Ballantyne, and John MacLeod. Ewan is an in-demand trumpet player in Toronto, and has recorded on many albums, demos, and music videos, played live on the radio and international live television, and toured with musical acts all over Ontario and Quebec. Ewan also leads his own big band that features many of the finest up and coming players in Toronto. The band plays original compositions and arrangements by Ewan and other band members.

Great Harmon mute alternative for practicing
This isn’t the quietest mute available, but if your priority is playability over noise reduction then this mute is for you. For me, this sounds and feels pretty similar to a Harmon mute…possibly lighter weight and more open blow. I have a few other practice mutes that change the feel of my horn greatly, so I’ve found myself picking up the Divitt mute whenever I want a noise reduction without compromising the feel of my trumpet. Highly recommend!

Divitt Trumpet Practice Mutes
The Divitt trumpet practice mutes are awesome! One can relax and all the notes easily play, even down to a low f sharp or up to double A's, they're much lighter in weight than many other practice mutes, and my wife can be in another room watching a Hallmark channel movie and I can be in the next room watching sports and she doesn't hear it! Very cool!!! :-)

Great practice mute!
I've had other practice mutes over the years, many of which were very highly praised and well-reviewed, and this Divitt mute is leagues better. Intonation is minimally affected from top to bottom, and it blows just like a really good harmon mute. A a pro player who lives in an apartment, I have to use my practice mute often, and I'm happy to say that with this mute I never feel like I'm "missing out" compared to playing open. My only complaint is that the blow does start to close off above high C, but it's not like I need to be playing high notes all the time. If you ever use a practice mute, there is no reason to buy any other than this! For the price, it can't be beat.

Divitt Practice Mute
Good tone and intonation in high and low register. Lets you play with the feeling of little resistance compared to a sshhmute.com that I was using. to me it seems louder in the room but outside the room I practice in my family thinks it is not as loud. Well worth the money. Very pleased with the mute and pleased with ACB service. The only difference is it is just a bit heavier than the sshhmute but well worth getting used to the extra weight.

Divitt trumpet practice mute
I got one to play late in my row home in Harrisburg where I work half the week. It is wonderful. It does reduce sound level a lot. Intonation is good. And it does not feel stuffy at all. But there is one thing that really made me love it. It sounds a little and feels a bit more like playing a Harmon mute. The sound I get varies depending on how I play it somewhat in the way the Harmon mute sounds. So I feel like when I’m using it I can also practice my Harmon technique. And that’s really cool It’s so good I just bought a second one for my home in Philadelphia where I will use some of the time instead of the Yamaha silent brass, which itself cool but a little cumbersome to set up when I have just 20 minutes or so to practice early or late.

Pro Quality Mute
Unlike a lot of players, I like practicing with a mute. I don't have great acoustics in my practice area, and I'm one of those people concerned about my hearing. A practice mute is a necessity -- for the sake of the other people in the house, and for my own hearing. This mute does not interfere with slotting at all, the horn slots just as well with it as without it. Intonation and back pressure are also good. It is the best sounding mute I have ever used. The only downsides to me are that it is heavier than my aluminum mute, and it is pricey. Honestly the $11 mute I bought from Amazon works just about as well as this one. But if you want the best intonation from the top to the bottom of your range then this is worth the extra $29.

I bought a black one, and I absolutely love it. But we need one for flugelhorn also!
