Vintage Frank Holton Model 29 Cornet!

The Holton Model 29 cornet was designed in 1938 and remained in production through the mid-50s. It is a classic Besson wrap cornet, minus the extra forward crook in the leadpipe, in the larger American scale, and while not particularly trumpet-like, falls into the American Long Cornet classification. During WWII, Holton military cornets were 29s. After the war, the 29 was one of 2 cornets used as the basis for Model 27 Stratodyne cornets by modifying them with a lightweight, after 1949 red brass, one piece bell. The 29 was the basis for the majority of mainstream Holton cornets that followed. Their greatest strength is covering all the bases.

This particular cornet has seen some use, The lacquer is worn and scratched in some areas, for example towards the back of the bell stem and the bottom of the valve block. there are also signs of repair on the bell and a few dings on the bell stem toward the 3rd valve and on the back parallel to the receiver, also a small ping on the 1st valve slide. See pictures for more details. The compression on this horn is fair and the valves move well. Don't miss this chance to grab a vintage horn at a great price!

Comes with a case but no mouthpiece
