Product Description
Bach Mt. Vernon Stradivarius Model 181 Cornet
this Bach 181 Model is a real treat! This one is from the Mt. Vernon era of production, know for their superior sound and excellent build quality. this particular cornet is in great shape although presents some wear from its vintage.
There is some minor wear on the typical contact points of the horn. The 3rd valve slide stop is missing on this horn. There also appears to be very early signs of red rot on the main tuning slide, some very slight dimpling on the leadpipe, and main tuning slide legs. A small ping on the main tuning slide knuckle is also present. The slides move smoothly and the valves have great compression although could benefit from a slightly thicker oil.
The horn otherwise looks and plays great and would be an awesome addition for any vintage horn collector or someone looking for a great cornet that could be used for trad. jazz applications as well!
From Bach:
"Vincent Bach combined his unique talents as both an accomplished musician and a talented engineer to create brass instruments of unequalled tonal quality. Often copied but never duplicated, Bach Stradivarius instruments today remain the sound choice of artists worldwide. Fore decades, the Bach 181ML series cornets have set the standard for cornet soloists."
