I'm a passionate and experienced clinician and educator. Before I owned ACB, I was the Professor of Trumpet at University of Southern Maine and I have given clinics and masterclasses all over the world. I love working with student musicians and would be happy to set up clinics and guest artist performances with you! Now that I'm settled into KC, I'm doing more local clinics and guest artist performing. If you're interested in hosting me, please contact DGL Artists!

I have studied jazz improvisation privately with greats Clark Terry, Jerry Bergonzi, Kenny Werner, Chuck Findley and engaged in extensive studies with Hal Crook and Charlie Banacos. My primary classical instructors include studies with Robert Stibler of the University of New Hampshire, Benjamin Wright of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and with Edward Carroll, formerly musical director of the New York Trumpet Ensemble.

    Online lessons

Very satisfied with lessons tailor suited to my level, encompassing general technical ability on the instrument, jazz improvisation and theory. In the timeframe of one lesson, Trent manages to explain the issues, hear and diagnose the "patient" and not least motivate by playing himself where hearing and copying is always a trusted method, providing that the source is inspiring, which it definitely is in the case of Trent!

    Trent Austin... first lesson

Posted by Ron Helman on 1st Mar 2021

Trent has spent virtually a lifetime in the world of trumpets, teachers, all musical forms and has risen to the top. Besides being an expert in coffee, he knows the human landscape and psychology of the trumpet mind. You will only experience a unique and personal lesson... a cool cat.
