This is one UNIQUE Horn! The daCarbo Unica is sure to be a head turner at your next gig in both looks and sound! 

The daCarbo Unica is a stunning horn, both aesthetically and tonally. The idea behind the Carbon fiber bell is that it transfers the players energy more efficiently, and i have to say it feels AMAZING to play. The response and slotting are incredible on this horn, and the tone is gorgeous. It's a beautiful round sound with a lot of warmth, depth, and color! This horn would be right at home in a large variety of ensembles, from wind ensemble to big band to small group jazz, it is incredibly versatile.

Handicraft meets high tech

daCarbo has developed an injection process for the production of complex tube geometries from carbon materials. The components of the daCarbo trumpets produced at Nägeli Swiss AG have a perfect surface quality inside the pipe. The process guarantees a consistent, uncompromising quality, more precise than is possible with traditional instrument manufacturing techniques. In every instrument, however, there is still exact craftsmanship and thus the love of the instrument maker.

Carbon

Carbon fibers consist almost exclusively of the element carbon. The atoms are arranged in microcrystals which are aligned longitudinally to the fiber axis. This alignment makes the fibers stiffer than steel at a four to five times lower density. Therefore, these fibers are particularly interesting for lightweight construction.
To take advantage of these properties, the fibers, which are more than 10 times thinner than our hair, must be kept within one component. This function is performed by a plastic matrix in which the fibers are embedded. A good carbon component has a fiber content of more than 50%.
However, a carbon component becomes particularly easy not only because of the excellent ratio of stiffness to density, but also because of the ability to align the fibers along the loading direction. This minimizes the use of materials.
daCarbo does not use the freedom of fiber orientation and wall thickness distribution in its instrument components for reasons of weight but to optimize the wall vibrations of the musical instrument.

As with the daCarbo Vario, the daCarbo Unica supports a full and warm rounded tone across its entire range. Due to the surprisingly effortless response it plays very directly. The components of the Unica correspond to the most desired combination of the Vario. The components are not exchangeable.

 

The daCarbo Unica Bb-trumpet is based on the bore of the daCarbo Vario.

  • The carbon fibre bell with the brass rim has a diameter of 128 mm (5.04''). It is detachable for maintenance.
  • The standard surface finish is glossy clear lacquer.
  • First class piston valves, ML bore.
