Amazing vintage 1956 Olds Mendez Trumpet in Lacquer
The Olds Mendez trumpet was an amazing offering from Olds, and this one is no exception! If you are looking for a great clear, projecting, brilliant trumpet with still great core to the sound this horn is it! It has an awesome sound!
This horn is in wonderful playing shape! Lacquer is generally worn around the contact points on this horn, most notably on the bell stem, leadpipe, and valve block. The metal valve guide on the 3rd valve has been replaced with a plastic one. The bell has a slight bow, a few scratches and a few barely noticeable dents. The pinky hook on this instrument was soldered on the bell but has been put back on the leadpipe (see pics for details). There are no signs of red rot. Beyond that, the valves have fantastic action and compression for a horn of this age and the slides move smoothly as well! As with most vintage horns we recommend using a thicker oil such as berp bio oil 3.
Overall, this instrument is in great playing shape, and is ready to go!
