Pre-Owned Vintage Olds Mendez Trumpet in Lacquer/Raw!
We have another amazing Olds here at the shop! This is a Mendez model, and boy can it play! This horn has a nice crisp and clean sound to it. It has a 1st slide trigger (currently no 3rd slide trigger, but there's a mount point on the slide should you wish to add one). There's a dent on the bell tail, and patches on the bell tail ferrule and where the third valve slide meets the valve block. There are several signs of repair, and it's hard to say exactly how much work has been done on this horn. The Z braces and the braces from the valve block to the leadpipe and bell have all been resoldered. A dent has been removed at the knuckle where the tuning slide leg connects into the valve block. There is fairly significant lacquer wear, especially at the contact points and along the left hand side of the bell. This horn plays best with thicker valve oil. Leadpipe and tuning slide have perfect compression, with no leaks. The valve block, and other elements including the bracing add to the look of this awesome horn!
The serial number places this horn around 1957.
