Adams A1v2 Custom Series Trumpet in Copper Lacquer with custom Bell!

You all probably know Trent's  house rule when he acquires new instruments:   "One-in,  one-out". 

The Good:

In this case  this horn was a reacquisition due to someone complaining about the intonation.  What we ended up finding is a bunk of  verdigris in the bell bow.  Once we cleaned that out the horn plays incredibly well.  The custom thickness .55  bell is wonderful.  It adds core, thickness, and stability to the overall sound of the horn.    The copper lacquer is beautiful.

The Bad: 

The horn has some lacquer wear as you can see in the photos as well as a pretty deep dent in the bell which has been removed but there are residual  signs of the repair.

The UGLY:

The verdigris which was in the horn caused a galvanic reaction in the bell bow causing some early signs of red-rot.   In my full confidence I think with daily applications of the "Blow-Dry Brass"  system those red-rot spots won't pop.  They do not affect the sound in any way.    We are offering with this horn a one-year warranty on the bell issues.  If you are maintaining the horn with the BDB and keeping the horn clean I think this horn will easily last another 30 years without issue.

It's a wonderful all-around trumpet, with a ringing, brilliant sound that really shines in commercial settings, and the copper lacquer makes it even more versatile. We designed the original A1 to be a versatile horn for the crossover player. It was the first trumpet in the Adams line (now there are over 10 different models) and it was a fairly traditional setup. We did include two different tuning slides which increased the versatility factor substantially. It's a great trumpet! But the fully redesigned GenII A1 takes full advantage of 7 years of experience in trumpet design and manufacturing to deliver an amazing upgrade over the original A1. The new valve block is a two-piece block with nickel balusters so you get a good crispness to the core of the horn. Plus the valve block feels great in your hand, with good balance and ergonomics.

The GenII A1 comes standard with a Saturn water key on the tuning slide (we found the horn sounds best with no water key on the third valve slide).

The tuning slide bend and tapers are all new, as are the bell and leadpipe tapers! The tuning slide bend and bell bow shape give it a really stylish modern look. 

This specific model is in copper lacquer, with a yellow brass bell and a 0.55mm gauge.
