S-Mute Salt Shaker Mute for Trombone
SUPER COOL TROMBONE MUTE!
We are excited to have this mute! S-Mute first made the Salt Shaker Mute for trumpet and it was a hit! So, we asked them about making one for trombone and they hit a homerun with this mute!
It is a lightweight mute, with adjustable corks (so it will easily fit many different bells), that offers a variety of tonal colors. The best word to describe the tone is "velvety". The mute comes with multiple felt pads that you can change out, mix and match and/or change the position of in the mute. The result is a mute that is versatile and offers the player a lot of options! It can be its own thing (perfect for intimate playing in small groups, "cocktail" gigs, or a softer tone for soloing on a ballad) or you can configure it to substitute for a bucket mute on live gigs (which is really nice because almost every trombonists knows the pain of playing a bucket mute - it is heavy, it wants to fall off the bell, it doesn't clip onto the bell right, it is stuffy - and we have all tried other alternatives in hopes of finding something lighter/easier and probably not had the success we hoped for).
You do have to play with the mute for a little while to find out what set-up is best for you and your trombone but once you know what works for you to achieve the sound(s) you want this mute is a lot of fun and offers a lot to you, especially as a soloist.
