Not A Toy! Great Starter Trombone for Young Students/Smaller Kids.
The Bb/C trombone is smaller than a standard tenor trombone (about 3/4 the size) but plays just like a regular sized Bb tenor trombone (see the photo below for a side-by-side comparison to a regular sized student trombone). The smaller size will feel more balanced and easier to hold and play for young students who are "smaller in stature" (but big in heart). All the notes are in the same positions and the fundamentals/overtone series are the same (for the "open" horn). The trigger is pitched in C (not F like a standard orchestral/.547" bore trombone with a trigger). This allows young students to get used to playing with a trigger while also making it easier to access C in 1st and B in 2nd. All these features make it an ideal trombone to start students on trombone at a young age.
A common issue for young students is they have a hard time reaching 7th and 6th position, sometimes even 5th position, which can hinder their learning, limit the music they can play successfully, and create frustration for beginners. The Bb/C Ambassador Trombone for Children allows younger students to reach these positions and enjoy learning the trombone more as they can access all of the notes without the physical obstacles often encountered by young beginning students.
