Trent’s favorite vintage trumpet!
The #2 bore Martin Handcraft Imperial trumpet is really the top of the line from the Martin company prior to the introduction of the committee. One of the reasons why Trent likes this Horn so much more than the committee is that the intonation is greatly improved on this handcraft imperial. Please do not confuse the imperials from post-World War II with these horns. Those were more of an intermediate/student Horn while the handcraft imperial is the top of the line. This Horn is really close to the handcraft committee of the time introduced in late 1939/1940. It’s almost a crossover instrument thus the pricing.
This horn is in beautiful shape but does present a few signs of use. There is some lacquer loss around the body of the horn, primarily on the bell, the inner bell flare, and and other contact points of the instrument. There is a small patch right after the mouthpiece receiver. You could see it in the photos, but it is done very well. Not sure of the error of when that was actually completed.
There are 2 barely noticeable dents in the 2nd valve slide and main tuning slide. Beyond this, the horn is in fantastic shape and plays even better. The compression is solid and the slides all move freely.
Adjustable 3rd valve slide ring
Lever action waterkeys
3rd valve slide and main tuning slide stops (which is rare to see on these horns)
Sold with case but no Mouthpiece
