This "Phat Boy" flugelhorn from Taylor has a striking aesthetic, phenomenal sound, and has a very ergonomic design so it feels great in the hands! This horn features a gorgeous brushed lacquer finish with polished valve casing and accents, a 3rd slide trigger, and three Amado water keys.

This flugelhorn offers a beautiful dark core to the sound, even at the quietest volume levels along with excellent intonation and a wonderfully smooth scale with big, open & secure slots on each pitch. With a Clear lacquer finish, the heavy gauge all-copper bell has slightly smaller dimensions than most modern flugels. This gives a sweeter, more subtle, 'airier' sound.

This particular horn is in phenomenal shape! The previous owner took very good care of it and thus it is in almost new condition. The valve action on this instrument is fantastic and the slides move smoothly. The case is also in great condition! This "Phat Boy" is an absolute treat to play, grab it while you can!

Here's a video of Trent playing another Phat Boy that came through the shop!

Here's what Taylor has to say about this instrument:

"The Phat Boy flugel started life as a design exercise we made around 2003.  It was certainly an attention grabber, not just because it looked so cool but because it proved the point that having a different visual profile did not affect the playability at all.  In fact it played remarkably well.  So well that it started to gain a reputation as being possibly the best playing flugelhorn on the market.  More development over the years and it is now regarded by many as ‘the’ best flugelhorn of the modern era.

It is not as big as a lot of modern flugels, which tend to have a more raspy trombone type sound.  With its more compact bell taper design the Phat Boy manages to combine that classic old school intimate creamy flugel tone with a very usable dynamic range making it perfectly at home in any setting.  Very flexible, responsive and just a joy to play, it is guaranteed envy from your mates when they see it and then hear it."

This horn ships with a Protec Flugelhorn case, but no mouthpiece.
