Brilliant Sound! Awesome Trombone for Chamber Music, Pit Orchestra, Opera Theater, Solo Literature, Wind Band, or Jazz!

525shirestb-6.jpg

The great thing about a medium bore (.525) trombone is it is the perfect size for so many musical settings!

  • Wind Ensemble, 1st or 2nd trombone
  • Chamber Ensembles
  • Trombone Choir
  • Pit Orchestras for musicals
  • Large jazz ensembles, 2nd or 3rd trombone
  • Small jazz ensembles
  • Recitals
  • Orchestral pieces where you want something "lighter"
  • Commercial settings

Really, this trombone can do just about almost anything you need! This trombone plays very well. It would be a great choice for anyone seeking a "Goldilocks" (not too big, not too small, but just right) sized trombone. This would also be an excellent choice for a student who is seeking their first professional trombone. It has an 8" yellow brass bell. The bell is stamped 2YM8. This a two-piece bell that consists of separate stem and flare that is brazed together, then spun. Shires says this about their bell: "two piece bells tend to have great stability and density to core of sound. Unsoldered bead favors broad, wider, and more diffuse sound and softer, more covered articulation". The F-attachment smooth transitioning from the open horn to the trigger-horn and the tone does not drastically change when using the trigger (which is fantastic because the instrument is not affecting the audience's experience of your playing). It has S.E. Shires rotor on it. The slide is a 8/10 (moves freely with very little noise). The slide has a yellow outer tubes and nickel crook. It is not a lightweight slide but the slide does not feel heavy or feel like it hinders freedom of arm/wrist movement while playing. Yellow brass tuning slides. The trombone accepts large shank mouthpieces. This is a wonderful trombone and is very accessible to play!

There are some signs of use, especially on the slide (there are some scratches in the finish and lacquer wear in a few spots most notably at points of contact and there is one large spot on receiver side of the slide by the crook - see photos). There is one tiny mute ding in the bell

This trombone is sold with a case and two lead pipes. Mouthpiece not included.
