AWESOME TROMBONE FOR A STUDENT SEEKING FIRST PRO-HORN!
The S.E. Shires New York trombone is an ideal instrument for any professional musician or advanced student. Inspired by the classic New York and Mt. Vernon bells, this one-piece bell is constructed with the broader TII taper and features a large, rich, warm sound. The yellow-brass bell provides a clear, pure sound with strong fundamental, keeps a very consistent tone color and overtone structure throughout the range of dynamics. The yellow brass, .547 bore, tenor handslide with bass crook provides a broad sound and open feel.
We test played this horn in shop and our low brass team loves the tone! Great projection with a nice full open sound. The F-attachment rotor is smooth with great action. This slide feels great! Smooth and moves freely (easy to play).
- TII 5YVNY Bell: 8.5 inch, one piece, hand-hammered “TII” taper in yellow brass with traditionally brazed seam and soldered bead in a satin finish
- S.E. Shires Rotor Valve
- Tuning Slide: yellow brass, drawn tubing
- TB47 Handslide: .547-inch bore, standard weight yellow brass; nickel-silver bass crook
- Shires 1 Leadpipe
- Bell Engraving: S.E. Shires makers mark and traditional floral pattern
This is a pre-owned trombone and the slide shows a fair amount of lacquer wear around the slide braces where a player holds the trombone. The slide also shows scratches on the outer tubes but no signs of past damage or red rot and the scratches do not affect the playability. The tuning slides have lacquer wear. There is some acid bleed by the rim of the bell. There are a few small pings in the bell. The tuning slides have lacquer wear as well.
