A remarkable intermediate/entry level professional instrument for young musicians!

The AC280BO has been developed with the young performer in mind. Using the Antoine Courtois design from the Legend series AC420BO, it is an open wrap standard rotor .547 bore trombone.280bo-full.jpg

This is a very nice intermediate to entry level professional trombone by Antoine Courtois! The Mezzo Series Trombone allows you to enjoy a quality designed trombone (modeled after the Courtois Legend series) at an budget friendly price. This is an excellent choice for young students who are interested in exploring the more advanced musical opportunities available to them through school and the community. The tone is ideal for classical ensembles (such as concert band, wind ensemble, orchestra, brass quintets, and solo pieces/recital playing) and is adaptable enough that it can be played in a jazz band if needed. When testing the horn, in shop, we found that the trombone responds very well to the larger tenor mouthpiece sizes (5 or 4) but will still play well and produce a nice tone with a 6 1/2 AL equivalent sized mouthpiece (this will make it easy for younger players to adapt from their student horn to the larger horn and continue to progress as they develop and mature).

For beginners and very young musicians we would recommend staying with the 6 1/2AL size - either the one that comes with it or upgrade to an ACB 6. For intermediate players, who are stepping up from their student horn, consider upgrading to an ACB 5 which will help the player produce a richer, more complex, and more rewarding trombone sound. Click HERE to check out our ACB Trombone Mouthpieces!
