Edwards T396-Hybrid Tenor Trombone in Clear Lacquer
Check out this awesome horn! This is the T396-Hybrid Tenor Trombone. Our friends at Getzen/Edwards actually found this horn new with some old stock and brought it for our recent Getzen/Edwards day at the shop. Our low brass team love playing it so much we just had to have one to sell in shop. This horn only been played at Getzen Day. What makes this a hybrid is the nickel bracing on the harmonic bridge, this is the prototype to the current offering.
Built with the artist’s exact specifications, the T396 features an 8.5" yellow-brass signature Alessi bell and a .547 straight-bore handslide with gold-brass outer tubes and a yellow-brass crook. One of its defining components is the sterling-silver fixed leadpipe for its centered resonance, smooth transitions, and unmistakable tonal focus. Unlike many Edwards configurations, the T396 is intentionally non-modular.
The Rotax valve performed with quick, airtight action, and the bell — previously de-lacquered and polished — had a clean, professional appearance. Importantly, this horn had never suffered damage or undergone repair, maintaining structural integrity and original playing characteristics.
