The Adams TB1: Tenor Trombone for Symphonic and Solo Performance

The Adams TB1 is the newest piece of craftsmanship developed and fully handcrafted by the Adams Brass professionals. The Adams advantage is that you can design your trombone to match your preferences without it becoming an overwhelming process. Choose your bell materials, your tuning slide materials, and options for your handslide but have the confidence knowing that the design of the trombone is what you want and trust in an Adams trombone. The 1-piece hand-hammered yellow brass bell is made with the same precision as all other Adams Brass instruments, combining true artisanal skills with modern improved techniques. The open feel, deepness, and richness in sound, in combination with a smooth and quick handslide action, make the TB1 ideal for both symphonic and solo performance.

Trent Austin and Chris White discuss the Adams TB1 Trombone:

Adams TB1 is a Great Trombone!

Posted by John Morgan on 21st Jun 2019

I was recently at the 2019 International Tuba Euphonium Conference in Iowa City at the University of Iowa. One of the exhibitors was Adams Brass. In the booth were Trent Austin of Austin Custom Brass and Miel Adams of Adams Brass (Holland). Mostly on display were some very fine euphoniums and tubas. I am already the proud owner of an Adams E3 Custom Euphonium, and I knew Miel from the previous ITEC. While looking over the latest from Adams, Miel told me they had brought along a trombone, the Adams TB1. I played it and immediately my wife said, "That is the nicest sounding trombone I have ever heard you play!" I agreed. I really wasn't looking to buy a trombone, but I had to have this one. I am now the proud owner of an Adams TB1 trombone. This trombone plays remarkably easy. Whether a ballad, a march, a classical piece, it just sounds incredibly good and wonderful. The F section is the least stuffy of any horn I have ever played. I played a low Eb with trigger, and it was as free blowing as any note without trigger. The bell I got is gold brass. The slide is dual bore. The F wrap section (called open short wrap) is almost totally contained within the confines of the regular trombone, meaning the F tuning slide just barely sticks out past the main tuning slide, maybe an inch. This is because there is a very bendy section coming out of the rotor, which by the way, is called an Open Flow rotor. Sort of like the Edwards Alessi model with the bendy section, but more so. I currently own an Edwards T396-A trombone, and I am going to be selling it in favor of my new Adams TB1. The Adams is just that good of a horn. Trent Austin was a pleasure to do business with. This is the first time I have met him, although I knew from some on line forums about his relationship with Adams, and have been following what goes on at Austin Custom Brass. I highly recommend seeing these folks for any of the outstanding instruments coming out of Adams Brass in Holland. The instruments are superb. And the service and expertise of Trent and his folks at Austin Custom Brass are unparalleled.
