This mid-1980s Bach Stradivarius 43 has a couple cool features that set it apart from the crowd. The leadpipe has been replaced with a Blackburn 12M348 Louisville Leadpipe. A rounded Blackburn tuning slide is also included (as is the original Bach tuning slide). The first valve slide has a trigger mechanism (feels great). We've aligned the valves here at ACB with long-lasting synthetic pads.
There are a couple points to be aware of, though. The tuning slide gets pretty stiff if pushed all the way in. There's a fair amount of wear and repair (which means the previous owner really liked playing this horn!). There's wear and pitting at the contact points; depending on how your hands tend to react with horns you might want to use a valve guard to prevent further wear. The valves feel great, but there is some compression loss; we recommend using a heavier oil like Berp #3 for best results. There are some small dents and dings and signs of repair all along the length of the bell. There are also dents and signs of repair work on the third valve slide dump and the second valve slide. There are some other nicks, scratches, and imperfections around the horn as well.
With proper care and cleaning this horn should still have a pretty good life ahead of it. This might be just the thing if you're looking for a great deal on a used Bach 43 with a couple upgrades built in!
No case or mouthpiece included, although we do have some great bargains there as well!
