Description

Introducing Glantz: ACB's take on the classic Harry Glantz mouthpiece!

For years and years one of the things I've always wanted to do here at ACB is to re-launch classic trumpet mouthpieces that are long since discontinued.

This piece is the famous mouthpiece formerly owned by the late, great Harry Glantz. It was given to Ed Treutel by Harry in 1938 and then given to me to make into the Artist series here at the shop. We have reverse engineered it and are now making an incredibly accurate version for sale here at the shop.

I measure this cup's inner diameter around .6655. I think it feels slightly smaller on the face due to a smaller outer diameter. The cup is a straight deep bowl and produces a wonderfully rich sound with tons of overtones.

The blank is unique to this mouthpiece only as it was the same from Harry's old piece. I love the lines (see the pics) of this one!

Another thing we are doing here at ACB  is taking 20% of sales proceeds with our Classic series and donating it to Instrumental Change, a program for underprivileged students in Haiti.

GLANTZ (HARRY GLANTZ) MODEL ACB SPECIAL SERIES TRUMPET MOUTHPIECEHarry Glantz

This mouthpiece is amazing. The trumpet call in Thus Spake Zarathustra from the Middle D to the High D is easy as the notes slots are effortless. No wonder Mr Glantz played everything on Bb trumpet.

    A lot of character!

Very comfortable mouthpiece, I’m not used to play this diameter (more often 1/2 C or 2C) but it doesn’t feel tiny at all! It sings very well and packs a ton of character. Very nice balance, great piece, congrats!

Lovely Reproduction of an Interesting Mouthpiece

Posted by Matthew on 30th Sep 2021

I often play in a silent film orchestra on an old Conn New York Symphony, and I've been searching for the right mouthpiece for this instrument. The Glantz is very efficient and achieves a beautifully rich and complex sound. I'm used to a Mount Vernon 1.25 rim and was a bit worried the Glantz rim would be slightly too narrow, but it's extremely comfortable. It also helps bring some efficiency to what is a rather large mouthpiece, which is helpful when playing heavy film scores. The blank is also very cool.

    Glantz Mouthpiece

This is a real fine mouthpiece. I am primarily a classical player and this mouthpiece provides flexibility, depth and variance of tone color, intonation, precise articulation and amazing range even though the cup size is quite full. I would encourage anyone who does orchestral work to give this a try....it really steps up !!
