Monette Prana P3 Trumpet in gold plate
After a fair amount of soul-searching I have decided to part ways with my Monette Trumpet. It’s a fantastic player and I’m the second owner. The original owner purchased it new and had it built for him. The horn is in brushed gold plate and comes with 6 Mouthpieces (5 Monette and one ACB custom piece). The horn also does come with the original case which is in fair condition. This horn has the larger “mid-shank” receiver. Normal shanked trumpet pieces will not work on this horn. Each one of the mouthpieces is about $500 additional per piece (with the exception of ours at $200)
Here are the mouthpieces it comes with:
STC3 B3FS7 Prana 82 (the Adam Rapa style piece) in gold
STC3 B4S3 Prana 82 (like a MV 3C)
STC 2 B4LDS Prana 84 (like a MV3DS, more commercial suited) mpc
Prana Resonance B6s1 P 82 (like a 3C on steroids)
STC3 B3FL 88 (like a 1 1/2C rim with huge cup… instant flugelhorn). “flumpet cup”
The ACB mouthpiece is a 2CS Midshank in silver in our “slug” blank
Horn condition overall:
The horn has been played a lot from the previous owner but is in 8.5/10 condition I would say. The gold has faded a bit at contact points (all Monette horns fade eventually in my experience). From what I heard they are temporarily not plating horns as the cost is around $6000 now for his gold plating due to the record high pricing of the gold) The horn has amazing compression and has been recently cleaned here at the shop. We used a safe, non ultrasonic solution that didn’t harm the gold and after cleaning tens of thousands of instruments we were respectful of the rarity of this horn and didn’t do any other work that might void any service from the staff at Monette in the future. The slides work great and of course the valves (I think these are still Getzen valves) have awesome compression as well. There are some surface scratches, and small pings in the horn throughout. We did not want to remove them as the staff at Monette prefers to do that work. One small ping in leadpipe but does not affect the blow. The case shows daily usage but is still very protective for this horn (and that is a very important thing!)
How does this horn play?

Well in a word: Amazing!
It has super wide targets and feels incredibly secure when you’re playing. The horn has such a consistent sound between every note. It literally feels like you are riding on rails when you play it. The fundamental low C (pedal c) is just rock solid. The horn plays great up to Eb above Double C (where my normal range ends) and is very fluid. It’s also VERY mouthpiece sensitive. These mouthpieces above are so different from each other which allows the new owner tons of sonic choices. I particularly like the Flumpet cupped piece and the STC2 commercial piece. I also really enjoy our 2CS in the horn. It makes the horn much more manageable for me.
I honestly have no idea what this horn would cost now but I am fairly certain it would cost over $20-25000 USD due to the mouthpieces and the gold plate.
We will not ship this horn on trial. If you do purchase it you’ll be the proud owner of this instrument. If you want to try it schedule an appointment at the shop and we’ll even pick you up from the airport!
This trumpet is sold as-is and with no returns. An investment of this nature would also warrant a trip out to KC for BBQ, hangs, and fun… Again please contact us for more specifics if interested. At this time we prefer to ship domestically only. If you are an international customer who’s EXTREMELY serious reach out to us for potential options.
Thank you for your interest! I want to find a great home for one of my “babies”
